The most important application areas where students gain professional experience are the Application Units of the Faculty of Communication. These are: PerspekTİF (News Agency and Student Practice Newspaper), RadyoTİF, KreaTİF (Public Relations Workshop), Photography Workshop, SinemaTİF, Film Workshop, TV TİF Studio and Control Room, and ObjekTİF Student Magazine.
“PerspekTİF” undertakes the role of a production center within the Tirebolu Faculty of Communication. Students follow local, national, and universal news portals here and create current news productions. A round-table model has been designed in order to use brainstorming and interview methods during the news production process. In this unit, students exchange ideas on the formation process and discourse of news. A printing workshop study is carried out under the agency. For the printing workshop, a total of three main advanced computers are used, two connected to printing devices and one reserved for design. These computers are equipped with the necessary programs for students to develop their designs. In addition, three different printing devices—two color and one black-and-white—have been installed so that students can transform their ideas from the design stage into printed form. Students can produce both posters and course-related materials using these machines. “PerspekTİF” also functions as a student practice newspaper and is entirely a work of the students of Giresun University Tirebolu Faculty of Communication, covering all stages from news gathering to writing, from design to photography. Its aim is to enable students to experience practices related to the journalism profession.

This unit enables students to transform their theoretical knowledge into practice in areas such as television broadcasting, program production, presenting, camerawork, directing, and scriptwriting. At the same time, it offers students the opportunity to directly experience sectoral working processes by increasing their productivity. This workspace, equipped with technological infrastructure, aims to develop students’ competencies in the field of communication science and support their professional practical gains.
“Film Workshop” is an application unit of Giresun University Tirebolu Faculty of Communication. The film workshop is a place where students can reinforce what they have learned by bringing together theoretical knowledge acquired in courses with practice. It provides access to all necessary equipment—such as cameras, lighting, and microphones—for preparing works expected within the scope of courses and for producing short films and documentaries for various festivals and competitions. Within the workshop: there are 8 Sony and 2 Canon digital video cameras with tripods, 1 Blackmagic camera, wired and wireless handheld microphones, boom microphones, SD cards, reflectors, and lighting sets.
“Editing Workshop” is an application unit where students can reinforce their learning by combining theoretical knowledge acquired in courses with practice. The Editing Workshop provides all necessary technical infrastructure with Mac Pro computer systems and Adobe Premiere editing sets for preparing works required within the scope of courses and for producing short films and documentaries for festivals and competitions. Within the workshop, there are twenty Mac Pro computers. This infrastructure offers opportunities for students to acquire all competencies expected by the professional sector upon graduation.
