The Department of Journalism at Tirebolu Faculty of Communication continues its educational activities in the 2025–2026 academic year with 217 active students and a faculty comprising 12 academic staff members. The department currently has 42 first-year, 69 second-year, 58 third-year, and 48 fourth-year students.

A total of 9 students graduated from the department in the 2025–2026 academic year. The number of graduates was 41 in the 2024–2025 academic year and 15 in the 2023–2024 academic year. While there were no international students enrolled in the department during the 2025–2026 academic year, one international student studied in the department during the 2024–2025 academic year.

The academic staff of the Department of Journalism consists of 1 Associate Professor, 6 Assistant Professors, and 2 Research Assistants. Regarding the employment distribution of graduates, 14 out of a total of 49 graduates are employed in journalism-related fields, while 35 work in sectors unrelated to their field of study. Among those working in journalism-related fields, 2 are employed in the public sector, 11 in the private sector, and 1 is self-employed.
