1. Our Quality Policy and Strategic Vision

The Department of Journalism at Tirebolu Faculty of Communication aims to educate journalists who can adapt to the requirements of the contemporary era, adhere to ethical principles, think critically, and closely follow transformations in digital media.

The quality policy of our department is based on strengthening a student-centered education approach, maintaining a balance between practical and theoretical education, supporting academic productivity, and institutionalizing a culture of continuous improvement.

In this context, education, research, and social contribution processes are regularly evaluated and improved in accordance with the Plan – Do – Check – Act (PDCA) cycle. Quality assurance processes within our department are conducted in line with the principles of transparency, participation, and sustainability.

2. Accreditation Process: İLEDAK Studies

As the Department of Journalism, preparatory studies for quality assurance and accreditation are being carried out in line with İLEDAK criteria in order to enhance the quality of communication education and strengthen academic standards.

Within this scope, efforts are undertaken to evaluate program outcomes, review course contents, monitor educational processes, and develop a culture of self-assessment.

Our goal is to align the educational quality of our department with national standards, strengthen the professional competencies of our students, and transform the understanding of quality assurance into a sustainable institutional structure.

3. Participatory Management and Stakeholder Feedback

The opinions and contributions of both internal and external stakeholders play a significant role in the development of quality processes within our department.

Student Satisfaction and Feedback Processes

Students’ evaluations regarding course content, teaching methods, practical opportunities, and academic processes are regularly collected. The feedback obtained is evaluated in departmental boards, and improvement activities are carried out accordingly.

External Stakeholders and Alumni Relations

Course contents are updated through communication with media sector representatives, alumni, and other external stakeholders, while current developments in journalism are integrated into educational processes.

Particular attention is given to contemporary fields such as digital journalism, new media, data journalism, media ethics, and artificial intelligence-supported communication practices.

4. Dynamic Curriculum Structure and Traceability

The curriculum of the Department of Journalism has a dynamic structure that is continuously updated in accordance with technological transformations in media, academic developments, and sectoral needs.

Program Outcomes

The program outcomes are prepared in alignment with the Turkish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (TQF-HE / TYYÇ). The department aims to equip students with theoretical knowledge, practical journalism skills, ethical awareness, critical thinking abilities, and research competencies.

Continuous Improvement

Course contents are regularly reviewed in line with scientific studies, projects, and current research conducted by department academics. The department aims to graduate students with the knowledge and skills necessary to adapt to the contemporary media environment.

5. Quality and Accreditation Commission

Various academic and institutional studies are carried out in our department in order to disseminate a culture of quality and ensure the sustainability of quality assurance practices.

Within this framework, activities are conducted to monitor quality processes, carry out internal evaluation studies, assess stakeholder feedback, and plan necessary improvements in accordance with İLEDAK criteria.

By adopting a quality-oriented development approach, our department aims to continuously improve its educational processes.
