Tirebolu Faculty of Communication Hosts Documentary Screening in Memory of the February 6 Earthquakes

A meaningful event was held at the Merve Durmuş Amphitheater of the Tirebolu Faculty of Communication to mark the anniversary of the February 6 earthquake. The documentary, which explored what the earthquake took from people's lives and what lessons were learned from this painful experience, raised viewers' awareness of the issue.

In the documentary, Elif Duman, Önder Kamalak, Tevrat Güner, and Aysu Naz Kayhan, graduates of the Journalism Department in 2024, shared their experiences during the February 6 earthquake. The graduates, who shared their experiences during the earthquake, emphasized in the documentary that February 6 represents much more than just a date on the calendar; they expressed that it is vitally important to learn from what happened and to act consciously as a society.

Speaking at the end of the documentary screening, Elif Duman thanked all participants and expressed her feelings for her loved ones she lost in the earthquake, saying, “I hope they are proud of me for not forgetting them.” Duman also thanked Dr. Nedim Serhat Bilecen, Assistant Professor, for his support during and after the earthquake. In his speech, Dr. Nedim Serhat Bilecen remembered Elif Buse Bozdoğan and Esmehan Kapan, faculty students who lost their lives in the earthquake. Dr. Bilecen concluded his speech by stating that necessary measures must be taken to prevent such tragedies from happening again.
