Academics from Our Department Presented Their Papers at the 13th International Communication Days

Academics from the Department of Journalism presented their studies on artificial intelligence and communication at the “13th International Communication Days / Artificial Intelligence in Communication: Theory and Practice Symposium,” organized in collaboration with Üsküdar University and Near East University.

The theme of this year’s International Communication Days, organized for the thirteenth time by the Faculty of Communication at Üsküdar University, was determined as “Artificial Intelligence in Communication: Theory and Practice.” Held in a hybrid format in Nicosia between 13–15 May 2026, the symposium focused on transformations in communication and media within the context of artificial intelligence. Academics from our faculty also contributed to the symposium with papers presented in different sessions.

In the first session titled “Journalism in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Reality, Authority and Algorithmic Transformation,” Research Assistant Eda Acar Sinanoğlu from the Department of Journalism presented her paper titled “AI-Assisted News Production: A Comparative Analysis in the Context of Journalism and News Writing Principles.”

In the online 11th session titled “The Transformation of Subjectivity, Selfhood and Communication in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” Head of the Department of Journalism, Dr. Ali Karakaya, shared evaluations on artificial intelligence and human interaction through his paper titled “What Does the Field of Human–Machine Communication Offer Us?”

Throughout the three-day symposium, the effects of artificial intelligence on the field of communication were discussed from both theoretical and practical perspectives, while academics had the opportunity to evaluate current developments and share their research with national and international participants.
